WHAT IS RESOLUTION BLACK?
"Resolution Black" is a five-episode anthology series that explores the experiences of black people and technological advancements in the past, present, and future. By delving into stories anchored in family, love, grief, and legacy, this sci-fi dramedy merges topical conversations about social media, robotics, and artificial intelligence to create a down-to-earth portrayal of the advantages and consequences of technology in life.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of writers who met in 2022 through the Hollywood Writers Program, Black Boy, Black Girl Writes Mentorship Initiative, founded by Insecure alum Mike Gauyo. During a conversation on Slack, we decided that we were way too talented not to create a project together. So, we threw some topics into a hat and randomly selected a theme: "Life and Technology."
After 8 weeks of a writer's room, meetings, and creative discussions, we landed on creating an anthology series—something timely and centered on our blackness. Thus, Resolution Black was born.

As creators, it's our duty to breathe life into these entertaining stories, especially those with a focus on blackness in the sci-fi genre, which remains a rarity in the world of cinema and television. To achieve this, we're collaborating across networks to build a series filled with impactful and relatable narratives. Our hope is to be agents of change, influencing how our community interacts with and understands technology. Our ultimate goal is to empower our community to be at the forefront of this new tech wave.
